Call for parents to help keep children safe online. July 17th 2020

Gwent Police is joining forces with local education authorities to warn parents about the dangers that lurk online.

It comes following an increase in the number of reports of children sharing indecent images online.

Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, going online has become a way of life. It’s where we all learn, work and socialise. For children, going online is the new classroom, playground or play date. Sadly, there are people out there that take advantage of this and pray on the young.

Gwent Police, with its’ partners, is launching a new campaign with the simple message to parents; stop what you are doing; talk to your children about staying safe online; and protect them from harm.

Galwad ar rieni i helpu i gadw plant yn ddiogel ar-lein.

Mae Heddlu Gwent yn ymuno ag awdurdodau addysg lleol i rybuddio rhieni am y peryglon sydd ar-lein.

Daw hyn yn sgil cynnydd yn nifer yr adroddiadau am blant sy’n rhannu delweddau anweddus ar-lein.

Trwy gydol pandemig y Coronafeirws, mae mynd ar-lein wedi dod yn ffordd o fyw. Rydym ni i gyd yn dysgu, yn gweithio ac yn cymdeithasu ar-lein. I blant, mynd ar-lein yw’r ystafell ddosbarth, y maes chwarae neu’r amser chwarae newydd. Yn anffodus, mae yna bobl sy’n manteisio ar hyn ac yn cam-fanteisio ar bobl ifanc.

Mae Heddlu Gwent, gyda’i bartneriaid, yn lansio ymgyrch newydd gyda’r neges syml i rieni; stopiwch yr hyn yr ydych yn ei wneud; siaradwch â’ch plant ynglŷn â chadw’n ddiogel ar-lein; ac amddiffynnwch nhw rhag niwed.

We would like to reassure all our parents that we understand their concerns during this current period. The wellbeing of our staff and pupils is a major priority and all decisions, while based on national guidance, seek to reduce the risk to our school community.

At the moment school is open.

We continue to review the situation daily and act upon official advice. The staff at the school are preparing home learning packs for pupils and will also use our digital platforms (Google, Purple Mash and Hwb) to set tasks to allow pupils to continue learning at home if the school has to close.

We have a plan in place to allow pupils to continue to attend school and where there are staff absences, we are still able to provide learning opportunities for the children.

If you have any queries please contact us at school.
